Our Genesis & Mission
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was established in 1956 as an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament with the objects to develop patterns of teaching in Undergraduate and Post-graduate Medical Education in all its branches so as to demonstrate a high standard of Medical Education to all medical colleges and other allied institutions in India.
It is the vision of India's first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, and the dynamic Health Minister, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, that brought AIIMS into existence. Today, it stands as the zenith of healthcare excellence in Southeast Asia.

AIIMS is not just a hospital, but a massive public medical research university. Our faculty lead research across all medical disciplines, consistently producing thousands of publications in top-tier medical journals worldwide. With comprehensive facilities including the National Registry of various diseases, ORBO (Organ Retrieval Banking Organization), and immense bio-repositories, AIIMS pushes the boundaries of medical science every day.
